Speech by Shelley Rholetter
Nurses, I did decided look up in a dictionary what is a nurse. This is what it said: a person formally educated and trained in the care of the sick. And I thought Ok, let me keep looking it up! So I kept goggling it. Wikipedia defined it as is a healthcare professional that, in collaboration with other members of a health care team, is responsible for: treatment, safety, and recovery of acutely or chronically ill individuals; health promotion and maintenance within families, communities and populations; and, treatment of life-threatening emergencies in a wide range of health care settings.
So, I asked around what is a nurse from some people and this is there answer: It means helping people, whether we are listening to their life long problems, helping them begin to walk again, helping with their pain, covering and healing their Boo boo's, being there for someone when they lose their loved ones, holding their hand while someone sticks them "one" more time…or just being a friend. It means being the GREATEST PERSON EVER
It means taking care of complete strangers the way that you would want your own family to be cared for...with dignity, respect, compassion and a kind heart. It means being there for a family who has just lost a loved one. It means taking ...the time to listen to your patient when they are lonely and just want to talk. It means honestly and truly caring for people and wanting to change their lives for the better. It means loving to go to work every day because you know no matter how good, bad or stressful your day is, you are going to make a difference in someone’s life.
Those meanings were said by some of my classmate I don’t know about you but that’s who I want to take care of me and my love one.
I honestly can’t some up how proud I am of this class! There have been many struggles but so many laughs in the last two years.
So I ask you class “How does this make you feel?”
I will leave you with a quote that I thought was fitting!
I hope your dreams take you to the corner of your smiles, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of your opportunities, and to the most special places your heart has ever known!
Thank you!
